Why New Art Institutions are needed in the times we live in. A reaction to an Art Angle Podcast.

While the vein of this interview from Art Angles Podcast recently about why new art institutions are needed (cite later), is based on an AI and political focused defunding of well established spaces for the community and population to gain culture and knowledge. There is a touchpoint at the end where it is discussed the kind of spaces that need to come to life now. And the way they describe them is how I feel about the community art space, nuerodivergent and ada accessibility efforts, and community darkroom that we are trying to foster at Tristine Walker Imagery. There are so many community spaces coming up that aim to fill the gap that larger more accrediated and government suppported entities are failing to becuase of a pinchhold on funding by the cheeto in charge and the damage that his puppy dog musk did to the arts, education, and many other budgets and departments.

Spaces like mine and others are not funded by the government, while we wish we were. As the arts are a viable resource and neccessary for human connection, growth, and mental health.
